Welcome to Peace! We are glad you are here.
Service Times: Saturday at 5:00 PM, Sunday at 9:00 AM
What to Expect:
As with visiting any new place, visiting a new church for the first time can cause a lot of anxiety: What should I wear? Where do I park? Where do my kids go? What is service going to be like?
We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to feel completely comfortable when you visit. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Where should I park?
The Main Parking Lot for Peace is on the north side of the church building. Entrances to the parking lot are from Kummer Drive to the East and 28th Street from the Southwest. Limited parking is available in the circle drive to the South of the church building from 28th Street.
Where are the entrances to the church?
There are three entrances to the church for worship. From the Main Parking Lot, two entrances are available. The best entrance to use will be through the courtyard. An entrance is also available and marked with a "Church Office" sign. If you are entering from 28th Street, there is an entrance under the canopy.
Where do I go inside the church?
The church entrances will lead you into the narthex (gathering space) outside of the sanctuary (worship space). As you enter, you will be greeted by members of Peace. Ushers stand by the doors to the sanctuary with worship bulletins and help you find a seat. The bulletin will contain the order of service as well as information and announcements about upcoming events at Peace.
Is there handicap accessibility?
Yes! There are designated parking spaces in the main parking lot and a door with assisted opening there. Signs in the courtyard point toward the entrance. Nearly all of the facility at Peace is one level. Accessible restrooms are located in the Education Wing (West side of building, across the Fellowship Hall).
What can I expect of the church service?
Peace worships at 5:00 PM on Saturday evenings and at 9:00 AM on Sunday mornings. We enjoy a variety of music and liturgical elements. They are engaging, interactive, and, most importantly, founded on the Word of God, the Holy Scriptures. The central message of the service is the Gospel message of Christ crucified and risen for the forgiveness of all our sins.
What can I expect from the sermon?
A sermon is the proclamation of Jesus’ death and resurrection and the application of that message for you as you live your life in this world surrounded and saturated by sin and death. Since there are different readings each week, each sermon is different. Consequently, we cannot tell you specifically how the pastor will proclaim Christ crucified and risen for you from week to week. However, Christ's death and resurrection FOR YOU will be preached every time we gather in worship.
What should I wear?
Many of the people at Peace dress up in their “Sunday Best” out of reverence, respect, and awe for the work of salvation from sin, death, and the power of the devil that God has done for us in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Yet what you wear to service is a matter of Christian freedom. Some do choose to dress up, while others dress more casually knowing that it is not a matter of how we dress that makes us acceptable in God’s sight, rather it is only a matter of the sacrifice of Christ that makes us acceptable in God’s sight.
Dressing reverently or dressing casually, one thing is for certain, you will be welcomed by the saints/members of Peace Lutheran Church in the name of the Lord.
Will I have to give an offering?
Offerings are a matter of faith. Scripture teaches us that our offerings are a response in faith to God for the gifts that he has richly poured out upon us, especially in his son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Consequently, there is no prescribed offering amount that must be given. Envelopes are provided not only to our members, but also to our visitors if they so desire, so that an individual’s offering amount may remain a private matter, known only to God. Giving may also be done electronically through a secure site: Give Here.
Offerings are used for the further proclamation of the message of Christ crucified and risen for the forgiveness of sins here at Peace, in Columbus, and throughout the World.
What else happens on Sunday Morning?
Between services on Sunday mornings, there is a Bible study for adults that meets in the Peace Chapel and a Family Bible Study that meets in the Youth Room. These are Connect Groups which facilitate growth in Faith and Fellowship among the people at Peace. Other scheduled events may occur in the same timeframe.
Coffee, Tea, and Hot Chocolate are available from the Gathering Grounds coffee bar located in the narthex area. First-time visitors are given a free hot beverage for everyone in their household. Suggested donations for drinks are $1, of which all profits are donated to the charity listed.
What about my kids?
Children are welcome at Peace! We love to see and hear children discovering the love God has for them as they learn to participate in worship alongside adults. Activity bags and Christian books are available for children during the service. A "cry room" nursery is located at the back of the sanctuary, with a diaper changing table and some spare wipes and diapers!
Midweek "ReFuel" groups are available for children ages 3 years old (& potty-trained) through 6th Grade! These are Wednesday Evenings from 6-7 PM. Kids will participate in activities and hear of God's story about Jesus and His love for them! 7th & 8th Grade students who are ready for Confirmation have instruction time during the "ReFuel" hour in the Fellowship Hall and have twice-monthly Middle School events on Sunday Evenings. High-school-aged participate in small groups with other
