Music Ministry at Peace
Music is an important part of our response to God’s work in each worship service. Music has a way of connecting us with the Divine as we respond to God’s grace shown to us as we use our gifts to glorify our God. At Peace, the desire is to use a combination of traditional hymns and contemporary songs that are theologically sound and yet able to be sung in a congregational setting.
In order to use the varied gifts of the musicians of Peace, we are striving to have at least two instruments for each service. This could be a piano and guitar, a guitar and cajon, or organ and trumpet, or flute, or harmonica. More instruments may be added as available and desired. However, we also realize that not every song may be appropriate to have more than one instrument playing. On the weeks when a Choir sings, there may only be one instrument.
At each service, at least one singer (two or three is better) will lead vocally. Generally, for each song, a single person is the song leader, the others support and harmonize. This lead mic number for each song will need to be communicated to the sound person at least 15 minutes before service.
The exception for song leaders is if a choir is singing. In that case they are responsible for learning the songs and leading them as appropriate.
Special music (non-congregational) is encouraged. However, we ask that it is limited to one or two songs per service to allow congregational participation in the music.
