There are 6 days of reading each week:
- Mondays – Fridays there are New Testament and Old Testament Readings assigned.
- Saturdays feature readings from Proverbs and from the Psalms.
- Sundays are dedicated to “Celebrating the Grace of God.” On this day you may read from elsewhere in the Bible, such as a reading from worship that weekend.
- Begin and end each reading time in prayer. Something simple is great: “Heavenly Father, send the Holy Spirit that in this time we may see Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.”
- Establish a set time for reading. Most days’ reading plan will require 20-30 minutes. Scheduling your reading will prevent the rush to read at bedtime.
- Read aloud or listen to an Audio Bible alongside your reading. Hearing the Word aids in retention and can bring out different words or meanings.
- Mark your Bible. If you have a question, write it down. If you notice something revealing Jesus, draw a small cross. Underline or highlight a verse you would like to memorize.
- Read with others! In your house or in the congregation, read and talk about the Bible! Pastor Joel will have weekly groups for discussion, reach out to Pastor Joel or check the most recent connections for upcoming meeting times. Jesus said: “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them” Matthew 18:20.
